The 21st edition of the Marathon International du Beaujolais begins with Marathon, Half Marathon, 13 km, Family, and Relay events on 22 November, followed the next day by the debut Bacchus Trail held on 23 November. The Bacchus Trail delivers a choice of three trail distances through the Beaujolais hills: 13 km (200 m elevation, loop via Dénicé and Lacenas, starting 8:15 AM), 21 km (500 m elevation, passing Montmelas, starting 8:00 AM), and 42 km (1,300 m elevation, including Montmelas, the Chapel of Saint-Bonnet, Saint‑Cyr‑le‑Châtoux, and Rivolet, starting 7:00 AM). These festivities are paired with wine tastings, musical entertainment, and runners in costume across both days, creating a unique blend of sport, culture, and celebration. The marathon route itself winds through vineyards and heritage villages between Fleurie and Villefranche, featuring multiple wine stations, châteaux, music, and festive replaying of Beaujolais traditions. Organizers expect a record 32,500 participants, supported by local charity, multilingual services, shuttle and expo logistics, and a commitment to sustainability and community, including donations from their runner foundation toward anti-cancer efforts.
