Held during the first weekend of November, the 28th edition of the Berenloop Terschelling unfolds across two days—Saturday, November 1 (5 km, 10 km, and youth runs) and Sunday, November 2, 2025, for the half marathon (starts at 12:00 PM) and full marathon (starts at 12:40 PM). The island-wide marathon is regarded as one of the most beautiful yet demanding races in the Netherlands: the course sweeps from West-Terschelling through villages, coastal dunes, the Boschplaat nature reserve, and over sections of beach before concluding at the iconic Brandaris lighthouse. The half marathon covers roughly half the island, passing through Midsland and Formerum via forest and dunes before returning to West. The marathon carries cut-offs at 33.5 km (4 h 35 m) and 36.5 km (5 h) to ensure safety. Maximum field sizes are about 1,000 starters for the full marathon and 3,300 for the half, and both distances are chip‑timed with cash age‑group and overall prizes awarded to the top finishers.
