On 7 March 2026, the Carlingford Half Marathon & 10K returns to the historic harbour village of Carlingford, nestled between the Cooley Mountains and the Mourne range. Runners heading for the half marathon start and finish in Carlingford village, then follow a mostly road course that skirts Carlingford Lough, passes Ballagan Point and delivers views of the Mourne Mountains across the water. The shorter 10 km shares much of the same terrain, offering a strong option for those who’d prefer a less demanding distance. While the route is largely flat or gently rolling, the coastal location and spring timing make for cool running conditions and plenty of atmosphere. Organised in aid of St Brigid’s Special School, Dundalk, the event combines scenic challenge with local charity focus and is managed by the community-based Glenmore Athletic Club.
