Great Naseby Water Race

Naseby, New Zealand

Be the first Runna to sign up!

From Wednesday, 26 August to Saturday, 29 August 2026, the Great Naseby Water Race returns in Central Otago’s Naseby region, staging one of New Zealand’s most challenging ultra events. Runners choose distances including 50 km, 60 km, 80 km, 100 km, 100 mile, 200 km, and 200 mile, as solo or team relay entries. The course is a 10 km figure-eight loop made up of half gravel road and half forest track skirting the historic water race infrastructure. Elevation gains are modest but the repetitive laps, night running (for longer distances), and isolation demand endurance, pacing, and mental toughness. The event is organized by the Naseby Development Charitable Trust and is a fixture in New Zealand’s ultra scene, combining wilderness challenge with strong community support.
