Part of the Helvellyn Sky Ultra weekend, Place Fell 15 starts from King George Playing Field in Patterdale and circumnavigates Place Fell in an anti-clockwise direction. The route includes about 680 m of ascent, with mixed terrain: grassy trods, valley trails, technical ascent and a fast, semi-technical descent past Silver Crag and Silver Bay into Boredale, before finishing back via valley trails. A cut-off is enforced at the Sandwick feed station (12:00), and overall course closure is 13:30. The race is fully marked and has manned checkpoints, one mid-race aid station, and a unique finisher “seed bomb” wildflower medal that can be planted. The event is pitched as an accessible but challenging introduction to more technical sky-trail racing.
