Held over the weekend of August 16–17, 2025, the Anchorage RunFest is Alaska’s premier summer running event, hosted by the Anchorage Running Club. Saturday includes the Anchorage Mile, Military Mile, and Kids’ 2K, while Sunday features the longer-distance events: a 5K, Half Marathon, Full Marathon, 49K Ultra, and Marathon Relay. The routes take runners from downtown Anchorage along stunning courses featuring the Tony Knowles Coastal Trail, Chester Creek Trail, Westchester Lagoon, and views of the Alaska Range and Cook Inlet. The marathon is a Boston Qualifier and also eligible for the Abbott World Marathon Majors Age Group World Rankings, making it both competitive and picturesque. With excellent local support, an on-site expo, and community-focused initiatives, it’s a top-tier festival celebrating endurance, nature, and Alaskan spirit.
