Established in 2004, the Bottwartal-Marathon has become one of the most popular running events in Baden-Württemberg, known for its scenic routes through vineyards, forests, and historic towns. The marathon course, officially measured and certified, takes runners through communities such as Murr, Kleinbottwar, Großbottwar, Oberstenfeld, Gronau, and Beilstein, with a total elevation gain of approximately 82 meters. The event also features the challenging Süwag Urmensch Ultramarathon (50 km) with around 1,145 meters of elevation gain, as well as a staffelmarathon (relay marathon), half marathon, 10 km, and 5 km races. Family-friendly events, including children’s runs and a “Run & Fun Day,” make it a weekend celebration for all ages.
