This festive race invites runners to close the year with rejuvenation and purpose by running through scenic and historic parts of Rio—starting near Flamengo’s Monumento aos Pracinhas, passing the Museum of Tomorrow, Museum of Modern Art (MAM), Santos Dumont Airport, and other downtown highlights. Participants of both distances (7.5 km and 15 km) receive a commemorative medal, and the top three male and female participants in each distance are awarded based on gross time. The Corrida de Vera Cruz is more than a race—it’s a collective celebration of renewal and the start of a new cycle, set against the stunning backdrop of Rio at dawn on New Year’s Eve.
