On 26 July 2026, Hills to Henley River Run (formerly the Greenbelt Challenge) sends runners and walkers along the full length of the River Torrens / Karrawirra Parri corridor, tracing its journey from the hills to the sea. The flagship 30 km runs point-to-point from the Athelstone area to the finish near Henley Sailing Club at West Beach, while the half marathon begins further downstream at Felixstow and the 10 km and 5 km are out-and-back courses starting and finishing at the coastal end. All distances use sealed off-road Linear Park paths and shared trails, with only minor road crossings and a generally gentle, net-downhill profile that makes pacing straightforward and the event friendly for a wide range of abilities. The riverside setting, winter greenery and the satisfaction of literally running “hills to Henley” make it a classic Adelaide long-run day and a handy build-up for spring races.

Races

The 5km race also runs on 26 July 2026 from Harold & Cynthia Anderson Reserve, West Beach, a short, family-friendly out-and-back on the same River Torrens Linear Park trail organised by SARRC, giving walkers and newer runners an easy way to join the event.
