La Corsa della Bora is a winter trail-running festival held each January in and around Trieste and the Karst plateau, and in 2026 it runs over 3–4 January with multiple races sharing the same “Bora” spirit. Runners can choose from the S1 Borin (around 4 km), S1 Family Hike & Trail 14 km, S1 Half Trail ~21 km, S1 Borderless Trail 34 km, S1 TransKarst Ultra 57 km, S1 Explorer Ultra 84 km, and the flagship Bora Ultra/Anniversary Ultra around 104–105 km, giving options for newcomers right through to seasoned ultra specialists. The courses link seaside sections of the Gulf of Trieste with balcony paths like the Sentiero Rilke, rocky Karst terrain, woodland, old farmers’ tracks and occasional village roads, creating a blend of technical trail, smooth dirt and short paved connectors. Despite changing details every year, the event always showcases the contrast of high-mountain-style trails and sea views in a compact area, with strong local food and wine culture at aid stations adding to the experience.
