Set beneath towering red-rock buttes inside Monument Valley, the 2026 Monument Valley Ultra invites participants into one of the world’s most dramatic landscapes for their next challenge. Starting in the park in Arizona, the 50 km ultra begins at 7:00 a.m. MST, while the half marathon sets off at 9:00 a.m. The ultra route weaves through the Sentinel Mesa and Wildcat trails, crosses Valley Drive, loops out to Mitchell Mesa and sweeps through back-country singletrack before returning via the Three Sisters Aid Station network. Aid stations are well-stocked with hydration, food, medical support and even musician encouragement on course. The half marathon gives runners a shorter glimpse of the terrain, beginning with the same mesa loop and finishing after about 13.5 miles of desert running.
