The marathon begins in Königstein, following the Elberadweg along the left bank of the Elbe River through picturesque towns such as Rathen, Pötzscha, and Obervogelgesang, before reaching Pirna for a loop through the historic old town. Runners continue along the Elbe to Dresden, passing landmarks like the Bastei, Schloss Pillnitz, and the "Blue Wonder" bridge, with the finish line at the Heinz-Steyer-Stadion. Spectators can follow the race aboard a historic paddle steamer, enhancing the festive atmosphere.
