Returning on August 16, 2025, the Parkersburg News & Sentinel Half Marathon—hosted as the RRCA West Virginia State Championship—starts at 8:00 AM (wheelchair division at 7:50 AM) downtown before leading runners through the rolling terrain of Wood County. The course traverses residential neighborhoods, crosses the Little Kanawha River, winds through Marrtown Road, Ghion Road past the South Hills Golf Club, and loops back into downtown along Camden Avenue and Market Street—where runners are met with enthusiastic crowds ahead of the Homecoming Parade. Upwards of 16 aid stations provide hydration, and the event includes pacers, medical support, tech shirts, a pre-race pasta dinner, and a post-race pizza luncheon.
