
The River Ayr Way Challenge (RAW Challenge) is an iconic 40-mile ultramarathon held annually in Ayrshire, Scotland, with the 2025 edition scheduled for Saturday, 13 September. The route begins at Glenbuck Loch, the river’s source, and follows the entirety of the River Ayr Way to its mouth at Ayr’s Riverside Stadium. Runners can compete solo or as part of a relay team of two or three, with transition points at Sorn and Annbank. The trail offers varied terrain—woodland paths, farm tracks, and short road sections—offering both beauty and challenge. This well-supported event includes water stops every 5 miles, major aid stations every 10 miles, and optional pre-race transport from Ayr to the start.
