This iconic, hilly city road course takes runners past Fisherman’s Wharf, the Marina, Crissy Field and over the Golden Gate Bridge, before finishing under the Bay Bridge. The USATF-certified, Boston-qualifying marathon begins 5:15 a.m. Sunday, July 26, 2026 at Embarcadero & Market and finishes at Embarcadero & Howard, while the two half options split the route—the 1st Half (Bridge Half) starts downtown and ends near the Presidio, and the 2nd Half (City Half) starts in Golden Gate Park and finishes downtown. Runners can also choose the Alexi Pappas 10K and either Saturday or Sunday 5K to round out the festival. For the bold, the Chargel Ultramarathon (52.4 miles) starts 10:15 p.m. Saturday and rolls into Sunday using the full marathon course for loop two.
