Across the weekend of 12–13 September 2026, the Thames Path Ultra Challenge sends thousands of challengers upstream along England’s most iconic river, starting at Putney Bridge and finishing at a riverside event village in Henley-on-Thames. The signature offering is the 100 km route, which passes landmarks and towns such as Richmond, Hampton Court, Runnymede and Windsor, sticking close to the towpath for a largely flat endurance challenge. Participants can also choose intermediate distances (around 75 km, 50 km and 25 km) or the Henley 10K, making the weekend accessible to both first-time charity walkers and seasoned ultra runners. Underfoot, the route blends hard-packed riverside path, park paths and short road or bridge sections, with minimal elevation but plenty of variety in scenery. With fully stocked rest stops every 10–15 km, optional camping, medical and massage support, and a celebratory Henley finish, it’s designed as a supported capital-to-country river challenge rather than a traditional race.
