Held annually on Independence Day, the Todd Beamer Memorial Run celebrates the life and legacy of Madras native Todd Beamer, a beloved teacher, coach, and athlete who tragically passed away in 1997 while attempting to save his family’s dogs from an irrigation canal . The 2025 event offers three race distances: a 10K run starting at 7:30 AM, a 5K run/walk at 7:00 AM, and a 2-mile fun run at 8:30 AM. All races begin and end at Sahalee Park in Madras, with participants in the 5K and 10K bussed to their respective starting points on Grizzly Road . The course features a fast, mostly downhill route with scenic views of the Cascade Range, combining gravel and paved surfaces . Proceeds from the run benefit the Todd Beamer Memorial Fund and the Jefferson Scholarship Foundation, providing scholarships to local student-athletes .

Starting at 7:00 AM, the 5K run and walk shares the latter half of the 10K course, beginning halfway down Grizzly Road. This route also features a gentle downhill slope and scenic vistas, making it accessible for runners and walkers of varying skill levels.
