The Butcombe Trail Ultra Marathon, first established in 2016 by the Bristol-based Town & Country Harriers, has become a popular event in the ultrarunning community. The 2025 edition, set for April 26, offers two race distances: the traditional 50-mile route and a newly introduced 50-kilometer race. Both routes are self-navigation and pass through the beautiful Mendip Hills and picturesque villages, with participants navigating off-road trails and completing a challenging course. Along the way, runners visit six pubs that mark key checkpoints. The 50-mile race is recognized as a qualifying event for the UTMB® series, and the 50-kilometer route has also gained popularity for offering a fresh challenge for returning participants.
