Held across 18–19 July 2026, the Défi du Col du Portet turns Saint-Lary-Soulan into a true “road-in-the-mountains” festival built around three distances: the 10 km, the 21.1 km semi-marathon, and the 42.195 km marathon. The semi is a relentless uphill test from the valley to the summit of the Col du Portet, while the marathon goes Saint-Lary → Col du Portet → Saint-Lary, combining a sustained climb with a long, technical-feeling descent at speed. Underfoot it’s 100% tarmac, but the terrain is unmistakably alpine: hairpin climbs, thin-air altitude near the top, and big Pyrenees panoramas that reward the effort. A 2-person marathon relay also runs on the same marathon course, adding a team option to the weekend’s main event.
