Pilgrim Trail Marathon 2026 sends runners and hikers from the dramatic rocky tops of Yr Eifl all the way to the seaside village of Aberdaron along the historic North Wales pilgrim route. The course covers around 42 km of trail with a mix of coastal paths, farm tracks, grassy slopes and rugged hillside, packing in meaningful elevation but remaining fully marked and supported with three stocked aid stations. There are no time cut-offs, so participants can move at their own pace, soaking up views of Pen Llŷn, the Irish Sea and the holy island of Bardsey as they head for the church-side finish. Every finisher is rewarded with a Celtic-style medal, gender-specific event T-shirt and even Welsh-made ice cream, while families can join the fun through a free 2 km Kids Beach Dash in Aberdaron. It’s designed as a journey as much as a race: a modern pilgrimage across ancient paths.

The Pilgrim Trail Marathon takes place on Saturday 6 June 2026, running 26.3 miles from the dramatic peaks of Yr Eifl to St Hywyn’s Church in Aberdaron, North Wales, with around 626 m of elevation gain on ancient pilgrim paths. Organised by Beautifully Brutal Events as the finale of the North Wales Pilgrims Challenge, it’s a fully marked, no-cutoff coastal-to-mountain marathon with big views and a relaxed, pilgrimage-style feel.
