Celebrating its 5th year in the fall season, the Tromptown Marathon offers runners a unique opportunity to traverse four counties in a single race. The marathon course begins near DeRuyter Central School, sharing the first 12.1 miles with the half marathon before diverging to include the notorious “Heartbreak Hill” around mile 20, followed by a rewarding descent with panoramic views of three valleys. The half marathon, a staple for over 45 years, circles DeRuyter Lake and offers runners the sights, sounds, and smells of fresh country air. Both courses are certified loop routes with new start and finish lines near the school. The event also includes a 5K race, making it accessible to runners of all levels.
