Established in memory of Andrew Smith, a passionate runner who battled brain cancer, the Cape Egmont Half Marathon aims to support the Taranaki Cancer Society. The 2025 event, taking place on July 13, features a 21.8 km point-to-point course starting on Oxford Road in Okato. Runners will experience a gradual incline on country roads to the halfway point, followed by a gentle decline leading to the coast and finishing at the Cape Egmont Boat Club in Warea. Participants can choose to run solo or form a two-person relay team, with each leg covering approximately 10.9 km. For those unable to attend in person, a virtual event is available throughout July 2025, where individuals can complete their chosen distance anywhere and submit their times online. All finishers receive a medal, and proceeds benefit the Taranaki Cancer Society.
