On 5 September 2026, the Jungfrau Marathon begins at dawn in Interlaken and carries runners through a dramatic ascent from just over 560 m above sea level up to 2,320 m at the Eiger Glacier finish. The first 10 km are relatively flat as runners circle Interlaken and the shores of Lake Brienz before entering mountain terrain via the Lauterbrunnen Valley. From around 20 km the route becomes relentlessly uphill — from Lauterbrunnen to Wengen, then along alpine slopes, past Wengernalp and beneath the towering north face of the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau massif. The final kilometers traverse moraine and mountain paths before the finish at Eigergletscher, blending alpine challenge with glacier-front altitude. With panoramic views, alpine villages, and a finish surrounded by some of the Alps’ most iconic peaks, the Jungfrau Marathon remains a bucket-list race for those seeking both beauty and endurance.
